Its getting harder and harder not to be Racist. I have worked hard my adult life not to be drug into the darkness of Racist ideologies, giving everyone an equal chance to prove their character to me. I have tried to treat each and every person I meet the same, not taking into consideration the color of their skin. I have my friends who are Mexican, who are Black. But as I listen to more and more rhetoric about white Americans being “the enemy” and about putting the “enemy” in boxes (Coffins), I am finding the existence of groups like the KKK and the Aryan Nations more and more necessary to protect me from the supporters of the New Black Panthers and radical La Raza members.
Al Sharpton held a counter-rally to Glenn Becks on Saturday, August 28th. It was supposed to be a rally commemorating the Martin Luther King “I have a dream” speech, but instead of voicing King’s desire to end judgement based on color of skin, he had people speaking that were calling White Americans the enemy, and talking about how they needed to be putting their enemy in boxes (killing white people).
I’m sorry, but things have not improved with the election of the first Black President of the United States. They have gotten worse. It appears that we have elected a man who shares the racist opinions of Al Sharpton, of the vocal leaders of the New Black Panther Party, and of the more racist appearing NAACP. We (white Americans) were told that the election of Obama would improve Race relations, and all I have seen in the past 18 months was a deterioration of sanity within the Liberal and Black Communities.
President Obama, you are supposed to represent ALL Americans, not just the Americans of color. You are suppose to lead us into a better future, to work towards the safety of all Americans, to make this nation strong. You have not managed to accomplish anything but being blamed for the growing division. Maybe its time that you stand up and say that enough is enough, that racism from all people must stop, and you must mean it.
For I fear the pendulum’s swing. And when it swings, we may find ourselves looking at a future that none of us wanted for our children or ourselves.
